👑 Rangatiratanga Leadership Self-Assessment
Discovering Your Leadership Strengths | Unit 6: Future Rangatiratanga | Years 9-10
What is Rangatiratanga Leadership?
Rangatiratanga means chieftainship, sovereignty, and self-determination. But it's not about power over others—it's about responsibility to others. Rangatira leaders serve their communities with integrity, wisdom, and care.
This assessment helps you discover your leadership strengths and identify areas for growth. Be honest—there are no right or wrong answers, only opportunities to learn.
Part 1: Core Rangatirat Values—How Do You Rate?
For each value, honestly rate yourself from 1 (needs work) to 5 (strong):
🤝 Manaakitanga (Care & Generosity)
I actively care for others' wellbeing. I share resources. I welcome newcomers and make people feel valued.
🌿 Kaitiakitanga (Guardianship)
I protect the environment. I think long-term (7 generations). I take responsibility for resources entrusted to me.
👂 Whakarongo (Deep Listening)
I listen more than I speak. I seek to understand before being understood. I value others' perspectives.
💪 Toa (Courage)
I stand up for what's right, even when it's difficult. I speak truth to power. I'm not afraid to challenge injustice.
🎯 Whakapono (Integrity & Trust)
I keep my word. My actions match my values. People trust me because I'm consistent and honest.
🌱 Ako (Continuous Learning)
I'm always learning and growing. I admit when I'm wrong. I seek feedback and use it to improve.
