Carry this card or screenshot for quick koru breathing practice.
Koru Breath Guide
- Place your finger at the base of the koru (start of the spiral).
- Inhale slowly through your nose as you trace the koru outward.
- Pause briefly at the edge — notice your body softening.
- Exhale gently through your mouth as you trace back to the centre.
- Repeat 4-6 times. Whakarongo ki tō manawa – listen to your heartbeat.
Tips
- Use a real koru pattern, finger paint, or visualise one in your mind.
- Add a quiet kupu (e.g., "rangimārie", "haumaru") on every exhale.
- Share with whānau – breathing together builds collective calm.
