A simple machine is a basic device that makes work easier. They help us move heavy objects, lift things, or apply force more effectively. There are six types of simple machines!

💪 How They Make Work Easier

Key Ideas

  • Simple machines don't reduce the amount of work — they change HOW the force is applied
  • They can reduce the force needed (but increase distance)
  • Or change the direction of force
  • Compound machines = two or more simple machines together (like scissors = lever + wedge)
