The Basic Sentence

Every sentence needs at least:

  • Subject β€” who or what the sentence is about
  • Verb β€” what the subject does or is

Example: The kiwi (subject) ran (verb).

Types of Sentences

  • Simple β€” one clause (The dog barked.)
  • Compound β€” two clauses joined by conjunction (The dog barked and the cat ran.)
  • Complex β€” main clause + dependent clause (When the dog barked, the cat ran.)

  • Their/There/They're

  • Your/You're
    Your welcome. β†’ You're welcome.
  • Its/It's
    It's tail is long. β†’ Its tail is long.
  • Could of β†’ Could have
    I could of gone. β†’ I could have gone.
